NASA is offering a really good application to see the world from a different point of view. It's very similar to Google Earth, although the one by Google has been much more successful.
It is offered by NASA and that means that the maps are excellent and of high quality. Although it doesn't feature lots and lots of options like Google Earth, the truth is that NASA World Wind is pretty good and offers information about hurricanes, earthquakes, storms, temperature, name of cities, etc.
World Wind includes the well-known Blue Marble system, an spectacular real-colour 3D image of the Earth.
The combination of Blue Marble and other systems like Landsat 7 (a photo collection in which each pixel represents 15 real meters) offers stunning effects.
